DROMEC strengthens collaboration with Royal Bodewes

Branche: Marine, Shipbuilding

DROMEC supplied two electric anchor winches with chain stoppers and two electric mooring winches for the MV Hagland Polaris under Bureau Veritas class.

This delivery supports safe, reliable and well-integrated performance within the vessel design developed by Royal Bodewes.

For the MV Hagland Polaris, DROMEC once again supplied high-quality winches to shipbuilder Royal Bodewes. The vessel is the first in a series of four for Hagland Shipping AS in Haugesund, Norway.

Innovative winch solutions for MV Hagland Polaris

The delivery includes two electric anchor winches for 36 mm chain, complete with matching chain stoppers, and two electric mooring winches rated at 50 kN. Delivered under Bureau Veritas class, these winch systems match the technical requirements of this vessel design.

The key question in this project

Client’s key question: Which reliable and certified winch systems are suitable for the MV Hagland Polaris within this specific vessel design?

DROMEC’s recommendation: For this project, DROMEC recommended two electric anchor winches for 36 mm chain with chain stoppers and two electric mooring winches of 50 kN, aligned with Bureau Veritas class requirements and the functional needs on board.

Future-oriented vessel development

The MV Hagland Polaris (NB 850) has now started its sea trials. During this phase, the hybrid electric system is also being commissioned, highlighting the forward-looking character of the project.

A collaboration that continues to grow

With the keel laying of NB 851, the second vessel in the series, the collaboration between DROMEC and Royal Bodewes continues. The RB Hybrid Eco Trader builds on earlier successful projects and shared confidence in quality, delivery reliability and technical coordination.

“The quality and delivery reliability of DROMEC ensure that we continue doing business together time and time again.”

Why this delivery matters

In shipbuilding, an effective winch solution is not only about pulling force. It also depends on reliable integration, safe operation and practical fit within the overall vessel design. This project shows how DROMEC combines engineering, product fit and dependable delivery in a maritime environment.

FAQ

Which winch systems did DROMEC supply for the MV Hagland Polaris?

DROMEC supplied two electric anchor winches for 36 mm chain with matching chain stoppers and two electric mooring winches rated at 50 kN.

Why is Bureau Veritas class relevant in this project?

Delivery under Bureau Veritas class shows that the systems are aligned with the relevant class requirements for this vessel. That supports reliability, safety and technical acceptance in shipbuilding.

What is the role of the chain stoppers in this application?

Chain stoppers help secure the anchor chain and reduce the load on the anchor winch during operation. This contributes to a robust and safe anchoring arrangement.

What is the purpose of the 50 kN mooring winches on board?

The mooring winches support controlled positioning and mooring operations on board. In this configuration, they provide the required force and control for reliable use.

Does the cooperation between DROMEC and Royal Bodewes continue after this vessel?

Yes. With the keel laying of NB 851, the second vessel in the series, the cooperation continues within this shipbuilding programme.
