DROMEC anchor winch for fully electric dune ferry Helgoland

With the new fully electric dune ferry, Ostseestaal and Ampereship are bringing emission-free maritime transport to Helgoland. The 15.2-meter-long, electrically powered vessel connects the main island with the smaller island of Düne. Commissioned by Ampereship, DROMEC developed a special anchor winch for this futuristic ferry.

Electric Anchor Winch with Control System

For the construction of the ferry, DROMEC made an important contribution by developing an electric anchor winch with an integrated control system. From the wheelhouse, the skipper can easily operate the winch using a handheld remote connected to the built-in control cabinet. The anchor winch has been tested and certified by Lloyd’s, as the vessel operates in European waters. With an anchor weight of 80 kg and a cable length of 100 meters, the dune ferry can anchor effectively even in deeper waters.

Emission-Free Outlook

Powered by a 1175 kWh battery pack and two powerful electric motors, the ferry transports up to 95 passengers quietly and environmentally friendly over the one-kilometer route. With this twentieth electrically powered vessel, the shipbuilders from Stralsund once again set a strong example for sustainable maritime mobility along the German coast.
