Sustainable umbilical winch for seatools bubble curtain

DROMEC and Seatools deliver a sustainable solution for Offshore challenges
When installing offshore wind turbines, robust foundations are essential. However, driving these foundation piles generates significant underwater noise that can disturb marine life. To reduce this noise pollution, so-called bubble curtains are used: air barriers that dampen the propagation of sound waves underwater, thereby protecting the marine ecosystem. Seatools supplies the systems that effectively create these bubble curtains.
Umbilical winch
DROMEC Winches designed and delivered the umbilical winch for the bubble-curtain system. The winch is built compactly within a sea-container frame, making transport and offshore deployment simple and flexible.
The machine is equipped with several functionalities:
- Constant Torque as overload protection with automatic hose payout to prevent damage to the air hose during unexpected vessel movements.
- A spooling mechanism with guiding system that ensures neat and damage-free winding of the air hose.
- Both local control and an interface for remote operation.
